Dental Manager

Department: Dental Support
Location: The Dalles, OR

One Community Health is seeking a dedicated Dental Manager to oversee our dental operations at our location in The Dalles and partner with staff at all OCH dental facilities to align continuity of operations. This role provides crucial coordination and supervision of daily dental operations, supporting and guiding our dental support teams (Dental Assistants, Dental Sterilization Technicians, and Dental Supervisor). The Dental Manager plays a key role in developing and implementing policies and procedures, auditing processes to enhance quality and efficiency, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve patient care. This role also serves as a mentor and resource for team members, fostering a positive and patient-centered environment.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide daily supervision and leadership to dental support team members under the guidance of licensed dental providers.
  2. Supervise scheduling, staffing rosters, and timecard processing managed by Dental Supervisors.
  3. Assist directly with patient care as needed to meet workflow and coverage requirements, if appropriately licensed.
  4. Manage infection control processes, including education, surveillance, and OSHA compliance training.
  5. Coordinate with Clinical Care Coordinators to maintain provider schedules in Epic, collaborating with Epic Site Specialists as needed.
  6. Lead the recruitment, training, development, and team building for dental support team members, managing performance and conflict resolution as necessary.
  7. Oversee onboarding, training, and ongoing education for new and existing team members, ensuring skills competency and adherence to best practices.
  8. Collaborate with Facilities, Purchasing, and the Dental Director to maintain and source necessary equipment and supplies for high-quality patient care.
  9. Partner with the Dental Director to streamline staff workflows and enhance patient care coordination.
  10. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and productivity efforts for enhanced service delivery.
  11. Investigate incident reports, recommend solutions, and implement improvements.
  12. Monitor certifications and licensure for all clinical support team members for compliance.
  13. Ensure compliance with FQHC, HRSA, state, and federal regulations, including HIPAA, OSHA, and other accreditation standards.
  14. Model ethical behavior and accountability in all professional activities.

  16. Adhere to OCH guidelines, policies, and procedures.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned or required to support clinic operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least three (3) years of experience in a supervisory or group leader role within a dental setting.
  • Proficient knowledge of dental scheduling, clinical procedures, and patient flow.
  • Experience with staff management, recruitment, employee relations, and workplace safety.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Successful track record in managing relationships across multidisciplinary teams in a diverse environment.
  • Able to respond calmly and effectively in high-pressure situations with a focus on quality and productivity.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Epic, and other relevant systems.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to HIPAA regulations.
  • Willingness to travel between clinic locations, as needed.
  • High school diploma or GED required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current Oregon dental assisting certification, Oregon EFDA certification, or Oregon dental hygiene license.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience working with underserved or low-income patient populations.

Compensation:

  • Salaried/Exempt: Starting at $70,000 annually
  • Bilingual Differential: Additionally, we offer $0.75 per hour as compensation for bilingual proficiency in both English and Spanish.
  • Milage Reimbursement: In accordance with OCH policy.
