Accounting Specialist (Hybrid-Remote, Hood River, OR)

Here is your chance to join an innovative, Federally Qualified Health Center in the Heart of the Columbia River Gorge. We are seeking for an Accounting Specialist to join our mission-driven team located at our clinic in Hood River, OR. This position is full-time (Monday-Friday), hybrid-remote (Hood River clinic), and offers a comprehensive benefits package.

The Accounting Specialist plays a vital role in managing essential financial processes, ensuring the organization's financial operations run smoothly and efficiently. Key responsibilities include overseeing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, supporting payroll documentation and tracking, and performing month-end close reconciliations and entries. Additionally, this position offers administrative support as needed, contributing to a well-organized and proactive financial department.

Job Specific Functions:

  • Provide support for grant accountant invoicing.
  • Review AP invoices and provide account codes, when appropriate, for proper accounting.
  • Follow established systems for tracking accounting transactions including paper filing management. Develop new tracking systems as needed or appropriate. Prepare and process reports as needed.
  • Answers AP procedure questions by researching and interpreting internal processes and procedures.
  • Complete month end tasks to include reconciliation of bank accounts, any regular monthly journal entries.
  • Ensure compliance with funder requirements regarding expenditure documentation and timelines.
  • Cross-train with Accountant – AP/AR and Accountant – Payroll to ensure continuity of operations.
  • Assist with yearly audit functions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in accounting or equivalent degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2 years general accounting or related experience.
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with the use of Microsoft office applications. Word, Excel, Outlook, multi-phone live. And other systems and office machines.
  • Understand HIPPA and privacy laws and other applicable regulations.
  • Willing to travel to OCH multi health centers when requested.
  • Work with a high initiative, energy and effectiveness in a fast-paced environment reacting and remaining calm and effective in high pressure or urgent situations.

Preferred:

  • Spanish/English bilingual.
  • Nonprofit accounting.
  • 2 years accounts payable and receivable.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Experience with Abila/MIP

Compensation:

  • Hourly/Non-Exempt: $23.00- $25.00, depending on experience.
  • Bilingual Differential: Additionally, we offer $0.75 per hour as compensation for bilingual proficiency in both English and Spanish.
  • Milage Reimbursement: In accordance with OCH policy.
